Alexander Bublik has publicly expressed his frustration with the demanding tennis schedule and called for changes.

For the first round of the 2024 Ultimate Tennis Showdown, Bublik is currently in Oslo. Drawn into Group A with Dominic Thiem, Andrey Rublev, and Holger Rune, the Kazakh is presently in second in the group rankings after winning his opening match 16-13, 17-14, 16-17, 13-12.

Bublik stated his complete backing for restructuring the tennis circuit. He emphasized that the prize money had increased very little over the past ten years, and the tournaments had stayed mostly identical.

He expressed his thoughts during a conversation and said:  “I’m for changes, and I want the changes to come because we have been playing the same tournaments with the same prize money for the past 15 years. They are increasing the prize money by two percent and they think we need to get that and be happy. So I think the changes are crucial. We need them, and players need them.”

Bublik not only advocated for more prize money but also underlined the necessity of making adjustments to the tough tennis schedule. He noted that the players should have a better life and drew attention to the physical and psychological effects of playing nonstop for 11 months without much downtime.

He added: “Players deserve the changes, and players deserve to be treated well, paid well, play less, and enjoy the atmosphere more because otherwise it’s demanding to play for 11 months in a row. Then, at the end of the year, you’ve got one month off and then you go on again. So I think the players deserve a better life.”
