Mirra Andreeva, the teenage star, will not compete in the Qatar Open in Doha, the first WTA 1000 event of 2024.

Andreeva has not played since her remarkable Australian Open campaign. She defeated Ons Jabeur, a three-time Grand Slam finalist, in the second round. Andreeva then survived a match point to beat Diane Parry in the third round.

It was anticipated that Andreeva would make her first appearance since the Doha Australian Open. Due to a series of withdrawals, Andreeva was able to enter the main draw without having to worry about qualifying.

But her decision to withdraw from the season’s opening WTA 1000 event suggests that her inclusion in the main draw was insignificant. There’s been no explanation given for this news. Andreeva might require additional time to recover due to her activities in Melbourne, or she might have sustained an injury. At this point, it is harder to tell.
