Former tennis player Nicolas Massu thinks Novak Djokovic is still the favorite to win the Grand Slams in 2024, even though the Serbian made an early departure from the just-finished Australian Open.
In the semifinals of the Melbourne Major, Sinner defeated Djokovic 1-6, 2-6, 7-6(6), 3-6. After Djokovic’s most recent loss to Sinner, some in the tennis community questioned if his long-standing supremacy on the tour was about to come to an end.
However, former world No. 9 and two-time Olympic gold medalist Massu shared the opinion that Djokovic will also have a strong Grand Slam campaign this year. In addition to highlighting the Serb’s exceptional physical conditioning, Massu also emphasized his 2023 Grand Slam run, which saw him compete in all four finals and win three titles at the Australian Open, French Open, and US Open.
Massu stated his remarks about Djokovic and said: “Novak is still number one in the world; he is still the favorite to win the Grand Slam titles this year. He is extremely physically fit. Last year, he achieved something incredible.”
