Greek tennis sensation Stefanos Tsitsipas is setting ambitious goals for the upcoming season, expressing his desire to secure both a Grand Slam title and an Olympic medal. The 25-year-old player is particularly eager to achieve the latter dream alongside his brother, Petros Tsitsipas.

In an interview with ERT, Tsitsipas emphasized the significance of these objectives, stating, “My goal this year is to win a Grand Slam and an Olympic medal. It means a lot to me. Competing alongside Petros, my brother, in the Olympic Games in Paris is one of the dreams of my life.”

The prospect of competing in various categories, including singles, doubles, and mixed doubles alongside Maria Sakkari, offers Tsitsipas multiple opportunities to secure an Olympic medal. However, the added sentimental value of achieving this feat with his brother adds a unique layer to his aspirations.

Beyond the court, Tsitsipas acknowledged the crucial role of his father, Apostolos, in shaping his identity as a player. Despite facing criticism in the past, their familial partnership has been rekindled after a temporary split in 2023. Tsitsipas expressed the profound connection with his father, stating, “When he is not with me, I feel that a part of my identity as a player is lost.”

Reflecting on their shared history in tennis, Tsitsipas highlighted the challenges of their relationship, acknowledging, “Sometimes I don’t speak too well of him, but he’s the only person who understands me, and that’s part of the job. The good thing is that we can separate the father aspect from the facet as a coach.”

As Tsitsipas embarks on his quest for tennis glory in 2024, the combination of personal dreams, familial bonds, and professional aspirations creates a compelling narrative. The tennis world eagerly awaits to see if the Greek player can turn these dreams into reality and etch his name in the annals of tennis history.
