At the Australian Open, Jannik Sinner was a warrior on the court as he defeated Daniil Medvedev in five sets to win his maiden Grand Slam trophy on Sunday. As part of his trophy tour with the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup, the 22-year-old rightfully visited the Colosseum in Rome while back in Italy to honor his accomplishment.
Sinner wrote on social media: “A special place to come home to. Thank you for all the love.”
Sinner became the second Italian male to win a major singles title in the Open Era with his victory at the Australian Open. In that exclusive group, he joins 1976 Roland Garros champion Adriano Panatta.
