Djokovic wins the US Open!!!

The Serbinator strikes again!

The world no.1 shows once again to be by far the most solid player on tour. Novak Djokovic had to play against everybody: Federer, the crowd and a nasty fall in the 4th game.

The early match

Nole was by far the best player on court in the first set. Federer was struggling with his serve, his forehand and his runs at the net. Funny enough the only thing was working well for Roger was his back hand. Djokovic won the first set 6-4.

In the 2nd set Roger broke Djokovic at the very end (7-5) to put the crowd on fire. The problems started in the 3rd set when the Maestro got a bit too casual to lose his serve in the 3rd game after being 40-15 up and when he was riding on a super momentum. Eventually Roger broke back soon after… but…

The Key point

The 3rd set went to a 4-all score-line and Djokovic looked to be emotionally done. The key moment was when he managed to hold serve after wasting a 40-0 lead and saving 2 set points (Roger was far too passive). Eventually the Swiss dropped his serve soon after wasting another horrible 40-15 lead and Nole held his serve soon after saving another couple of consecutive break points (15-40). The Serbian won the set 6-4.

The 4th set

In the 4th set Federer just gave up to be 2-5 and 2 breaks down in no time. Almost “by chance” Federer broke Nole and he held serve to bring the match to a 4-5 score-line. Time for Roger not to convert another couple of consecutive break points (15-40) and Nole holds serve to win his 10th slam.

KEY STATS—> BAD BAD CONVERSION

The key stat is that horrible break point conversion from Federer that converted only 4 of 23. You can’t beat a guy like Djokovic if you waste so many opportunities. Federer also committed a mind blowing 54 unforced errors (56 winners). Eventually Roger scored just 2 points less than Novak. (145 vs 147).

Federer: I had a wonderful 2 weeks

Roger was gracious in defeat to comment “I had a wonderful last two weeks, the whole American trip has been fantastic. I’m very pleased with where my game’s at, being back in the finals is where you want to be. Playing against a massive champion like Novak is a always a challenge.

It’s always tough playing against one another and I think we walk away from each match knowing more about our game.”

GOOD WAY TO BE PUMPED UP
