In the upcoming days, Carlos Alcaraz will step up his preparation for his clay-court swing, and he will go to South America and the United States with his long-term coach by his side.
During his Australian Open campaign, Alcaraz was forced to practice without Juan Carlos Ferrero’s services because the former world No. 1 was still in wheelchairs following arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.
Samuel Lopez replaced the role of coach, although Alcaraz was shocked by Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals, causing him to leave the season early. A new news source claims that Ferrero is back on his feet and that he will replace Lopez as coach when Alcaraz comes to training on Wednesday.
In addition, Ferrero will go with Alcaraz to both North and South America. Alcaraz has registered for the Argentina Open and the Rio Open, two clay-court competitions. These will be Alcaraz’s first events on the red dirt since he played for Spain in the Hopman Cup in Nice in July of last year.

Currently the world no.2, the Spaniard played his last match on the 24th of January when he was defeated by world no.6 Alexander Zverev 6-1 6-3 6-7(2) 6-4 in the quarter of the Australian Open (draw).
Presently, during this year Carlos has managed to achieve an overall 4-1 match record.
Alcaraz has scheduled to compete next in Buenos Aires (Argentina Open). He will begin to play the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 12th of February.
