According to Aneke, the Dane's mother, Holger Rune, and former Roger Federer coach Severin Luthi announced their separation less than two months ago.

Holger Rune and Roger Federer’s former coach, Severin Luthi, announced their split less than two months later, according to Aneke, the Dane’s mother. Aneke Rune clarified that the scheduling with Severin was not right and that the problem was Luthi’s availability to travel to events with her son.

In addition to tennis legend Boris Becker, who joined in October, Rune revealed in December that Luthi would be joining him for the 2024 campaign.

Not only did Luthi captain Switzerland in the 2014 Davis Cup victory, but he also coached Roger Federer, the 20-time Grand Slam champion, from 2007 until his retirement in 2022. Rune’s mother revealed in an interview that her son would no longer be working with Luthi.

Earlier, Rune expressed his admiration for Luthi and seemed thrilled about the potential addition of the Swiss player to his squad during the Australian Open.

Rune expressed his remarks earlier after adding Luthi to his team: “Roger was my childhood idol. It’s great to have something from him in my box. Great energy, great advice—talking from a lot of experience for sure. It’s cool to have him around, with Boris as well. It’s cool to have stability around me and people that I believe in so that means a lot.”

Rune’s mother informed the media in an interview about this change and said: “I just want to inform you that from now on, Holger will only have Boris and Kenneth on his coaching staff. I don’t want to make a big deal out of it, but the timing with Severin was not right. It would be too few weeks for Severin to be able to cover the continuity that Holger needs.”
