Hingis, Paes win another slam and MAKE HISTORY

Martina Hingis and Leander Paes did it again.  The Swiss/Indian duo win their 3rd mixed double in a major in 2015 after the Australian Open and Wimbledon (first time since 1969).

This is Paes’ 17th slam (8 doubles, 9 mixed doubles) and Martina’s 19th slam (5 singles, 10doubles, 4 mixed)

In the final Martina a Lender defeated Mattek-Sands and Querrey after a rough match 6-4 3-6 10-7.

Why they made history

With this win Paes is the man with most Grand Slam mixed doubles titles (9). He just surpassed his compatriot Mahesh Bhupathi. The person with more Grand Slam mixed doubles titles is still Martina Navratilova, but Leander is poised to get there.

Martina commented “I just love to play tennis and I am fortunate to have Leander as my partner.”

Lender added “Martina is a legend on and off the court. She’s my best friend. She’s just fantastic.”

Martina has also reached the final with another Indian (Sania Mirza) in doubles. What a great comeback!
