Flavia played a match out of this world against seed no.2 Simona Halep to literally trash the Romanian 6-1 6-3. Flavia’s tennis was incredible to demolish her opponent in just 59 minutes.
After the match she commented “It’s amazing, because 20 days ago my physio asked me if I thought I could ever win a Grand Slam or be in the final of a Grand Slam, and I said no. I think my answer was no for a lot of reasons, but like always, you never know. You just have to play and try your best, and most of the time the good things come when you aren’t expecting them.”
Vinci
Roberta produced definitely one of the biggest upsets in tennis history after defeating Serena Williams in 3 sets to comment “It’s like a dream – I’m in the final, I beat Serena – sorry guys, sorry! For me it’s an amazing moment. It’s incredible. I have so many things in my mind right now! It was an incredible match. I lost the first set, but I still tried to stay aggressive. In the end I was serving and it felt impossible, but I tried to stay focused and not think about the match or Serena’s incredible play.
It’s the best moment of my life.”
The favorite
Flavia Pennetta is the hot favorite to win the title for 2 reasons: first she is generally playing a better tennis than Roberta; second Vinci may be already very satisfied with the incredible upset she has produced.
Head to head leads Pennetta 5-3 and we see Flavia to win in 3 sets… we also saw Serena winning the semi (life/tennis is unpredictable… isn’t it?)
