Jannik Sinner attributes his famous victory in the Australian Open to his ability to grow up quickly.

In front of a packed Rod Laver Arena, the Italian celebrated his first Grand Slam victory with grace. In his first major final, trailing by two sets, the 22-year-old in Melbourne mounted an incredible comeback against Daniil Medvedev, displaying a masterclass in style.

In an interview with the media after his win, Sinner was questioned about whether pressure from his early years’ high expectations in Italy affected his drive.

Sinner expressed his thoughts about it and said: “Yeah, there is always pressure, but the pressure is something good. You have to take it in a good way. It’s a privilege, no? Because there are not so many players who have this kind of pressure, but in the other way, when you have pressure, it’s always okay; he believes that I can do it.”

Sinner, who was once among the most gifted young skiers in Italy, moved away from home at the age of 14 to pursue a career in tennis instead of skiing, and he had to cook and clean for himself.

Sinner further said: “So yes, I like to dance in the pressure storm. I don’t know how to tell. I like it because that’s where, most of the time, I bring out my best tennis. I’m also quite relaxed on this occasion because I always try to enjoy myself on the court. So I think pressure is a privilege, to be honest.”
