“God Mode” Federer reaches the US Open final

Roger Federer is back to a US Open final after 6 years after losing to Del Potro in 2009.

The Maestro was in “God Mode” against Stan Wawrinka that looked just unable to counter the Swiss no.1.  Roger was just too good to break his compatriot 5 times without never dropping his own serve. The world no.2 wrapped up the match after 1 hour and 32 minutes 6-4 6-3 6-1 with everything looking eerily “easy”.

Federer: It’s a great tournament

Roger is definitely pleased for the last fortnight “I’m very happy, it’s been a great tournament so far. I tried very hard in the last six years to get to another final, I came close a few times and tonight it worked against Stan, who also played a good tournament.”

The final vs. Djokovic

Roger will play world no.1 Novak Djokovic in the best possible final “It’s just a straight shootout, and I think that’s the cool thing about our rivalry. It’s very athletic, we both can handle whatever we present to one another and I think our matches are very even. That could swing the match a little bit, but other than that, obviously Novak is a great player…you’ve got to play well to beat him, there is no question about that.”

Head to head

Roger leads Novak 21-20. Impossible to call for a favorite, but if Roger wants to win another slam… this is the right time.

GAME ON!
