Nick Kyrgios explains the key change that turned Jannik Sinner into a Grand Slam winner

According to Nick Kyrgios, Jannik Sinner made a significant shift in his play that allowed him to reach the Grand Slam final. Sinner stunned everyone at the Australian Open by defeating Daniil Medvedev and winning his first grand slam title.

Kyrgios Talks About Sinner

Nick Kyrgios claims that Jannik Sinner advanced to the Grand Slam final by implementing a crucial change in his style of play.

At the Australian Open, Sinner shocked everyone by coming back from a two-set deficit to upset Daniil Medvedev and earn his maiden grand slam title. In the semi-finals, the 22-year-old Italian gave Novak Djokovic his first defeat at Melbourne Park in six years.

Once again, Kyrgios was an interesting commentator, sharing his views about the influence Sinner’s coach, Darren Cahill, had on the team.

Kyrgios expressed his thoughts about Sinner and said: “You feel like this is the beginning of a very special journey. You can see more Grand Slams being added to that tally if he keeps playing like that. I’ve said it about 14 times these two weeks; Darren Cahill made some amazing changes to the Sinner serve. I played him and thought that was a little hole in his game but now, dropping serve only twice in a Grand Slam is beyond a joke, considering the amount of concentration and discipline that takes.”

He appreciated Sinner and said: “Jannik is an incredibly nice guy in the locker room. You always see him as super professional, but he’s like a sponge. Ever since he came on tour, that first match he played against Steve Johnson in Rome, the locker room was watching and thinking, ‘Who is this skinny guy who has the crowd in the palm of his hand?”

Kyrgios concluded his viewpoint about Sinner’s gameplay and said: “He was improving all the time and the maturity he has is something I never had to get over the hump. I did predict he was going to be the new Slam winner in 2024. I thought maybe the US Open but now that he has this one, he might be unstoppable.”
