Serena: I am not going to underestimate Roberta Vinci

The American is very careful about her upcoming semi

Serena Williams is just a couple of matches away from an incredible Grand Slam. The world no.1 has a “dream semifinal” ahead against world no. 43 Roberta Vinci that is definitely not expected to pose any threat to the American.

Former world no.11, Roberta had an immensely easy draw on her road to the semifinal as the highest ranked she has beaten was world no.40 Kiki Mladenovic.

Head to head

Serena leads Vinci 4-0 and she has always beaten the Italian in straight sets without never conceding more than 4 games, so this semi is widely expected to be one way traffic… not for Serena.

Serena: I do not underestimate Roberta

Talking about their recent match in Toronto (Serena won 6-4 6-3), the world no.1 commented “She played me really tough, and I didn’t really expect that. So I’m not going to underestimate her. I kind of know what to expect, and I’ll be more ready for it this time.”
