After defeating the young player to get to the Australian Open final, Aryna Sabalenka showered Coco Gauff with admiration.
According to their head-to-head record, the 25-year-old was behind her opponent heading into their semi-final match on Thursday. However, Sabalenka gave an incredible performance to secure her spot in the final match on Saturday.
There have now been seven meetings between Sabalenka and Gauff. Additionally, Sabalenka acknowledged how much she enjoyed their matches while also sending an encouraging note to her opponent.
Sabalenka appreciated Gauff in the post-match interview and said: “As I said before, it’s always a great fight. She’s an incredible player. I enjoy playing with her. Win or lose, it’s always a great match. She’s a great player. I hope that in the future we’re going to play many more finals. Hopefully, I’m going to win all of them! I enjoy playing her.”
