Emma Raducanu, the former World No. 10, conveyed her appreciation for the opportunity to make a comeback at the 2024 Australian Open, despite her second-round departure from the tournament.
Raducanu faced a challenging 2023 season marked by injuries that led to her withdrawal from several tournaments and necessitated three surgeries on her right ankle and both wrists. Making a triumphant return after an eight-month hiatus, she began her 2024 season with a victory at the ASB Classic.

However, her campaign took a turn in the second round when she faced World No. 94 Wang Yafan, resulting in a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 defeat and an early exit from Melbourne.
Despite the disappointment of an early departure, Raducanu expressed gratitude on social media for her time in Australia. In an Instagram post, she wrote, “aus off ct, 🙏 grateful for my first trip back. i loved seeing you all and the support, thank you ♥️ sad it wasn’t for longer but going up from here 🙌.”

Now ranked no.296, Emma played her last match on the 18th of January when she capitulated to world no.94 Yafan Wang 6-4 4-6 6-4 in the 2nd round of the Australian Open (draw).
