Zverev improved to 8-1 Down Under this season by maintaining his composure in a match tie-break that required nerves of steel in an event packed with twists and turns.

As he attempts to win a Grand Slam for the first time, Zverev, who is currently in his third quarterfinal at Melbourne Park, will next face second seed Carlos Alcaraz. On Monday night at Rod Laver Arena, the Spaniard easily defeated Miomir Kecmanovic 6-4, 6-4, 6-0.

Zverev expressed his thoughts in the post-match interview and said: “At the end of the day, this is a Grand Slam. Everybody is playing their best here. Cam was playing amazing tennis and I’m just happy to be through.”
