Following her daughter Coco Gauff’s victory over fellow countrywoman Alycia Parks in the third round of the 2024 Australian Open, Candi Gauff responded to her daughter’s show of sportsmanship.
By offering comfort and encouragement to a fellow American and lifelong friend on the net, Gauff showed her class and compassion.
At the Margaret Court Arena on Friday, Gauff took on World No. 82 Alycia Parks in the third round of competition. Gauff won 6-0, 6-2 in just over an hour, showing her dominance on the day and her 10-match Grand Slam winning streak. The 19-year-old approached the net after the last point and hugged Parks while encouraging and supporting her.
Gauff can be heard saying to Parks in the video: “Next time we play in the final.”
For this sweet gesture, Gauff’s mother posted the lovely moment on her Instagram account along with some adoring emojis.

At the moment ranked no.4, Coco has achieved a 9-0 record in 2024. Coco is currently competing at the Australian Open where she beat the world no.68 Anna Schmiedlova 6-3 6-0, the world no.43 Caroline Dolehide 7-62 6-2, the world no.82 Alycia Parks 6-0 6-2 and the world no.69 Magdalena Frech 6-1 6-2.
Coco Gauff will take on the world no.37 Marta Kostyuk in the quarter. Their actual record is 1-0 for Gauff.
Gauff conquered 1 title in 2024 in Auckland.

At the moment ranked no.82, the American played her last match on the 19th of January when she was defeated by world no.4 Cori Gauff 6-0 6-2 in the 3rd round of the Australian Open (draw).
