Djokovic reaches his 26th consecutive slam quarter

Novak Djokovic had to battle a bit to overcome a combative Bautista-Agut. The Spaniard has the same game as the world no.1 with the difference that Nole does it … better.

After the Djoker grabbed a 6-3 4-2 lead, Roberto managed to win 5 consecutive games and bring the score line to a scary (for Djokovic) 6-3 4-6 0-1. But you need much more than that to defeat the world no.1 and eventually the Serbinator found his way back to win the match 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-3. Match Stats.

This is Nole’s 26th consecutive slam quarter-final. Only King Roger (36) and Jimmy Connors (27) did better than that.

Djokovic: it was a great fight

Nole congratulated his opponent “Congratulations to Bautista for hanging in there, for fighting. It was a great match tonight.

I started allowing him to control the rallies. I didn’t do what I did for set and a half, which was after few balls stepping in and taking control. If you give him an opportunity, if you drop your level, he’s a kind of a player, similar to David Ferrer, who is going to get on top of you.”

Next vs. Lopez

Nole will play another Spaniard in the quarters (Feliciano Lopez). Head to head is 5-0 for Nole that is definitely the favourite, but the very fast condition of the central court may cause some problems to the Serbian against a guy like Feliciano.
