Alexander Zverev has just reached the 3rd round of the Australian Open, but it seems he can’t get away with questions regarding his issues with domestic violence allegations. He will go on trial for physical abuse in May. He is accused of “physically abusing and damaging the health of a woman during an argument in Berlin in May 2020.”
The accusation comes from his former girlfriend, Brenda Patea, and follows some other accusations of Olya Sharipova (also a former girlfriend). Zverev rejected these accusations.
Soon after winning an epic match against the world no.163 Lukas Klein (7-5 3-6 4-6 7-65 7-67), the German player was not pleased to be asked if he has planned to attend the trial in person.
He answered: “Wow. That’s a question. I just played four hours, 40 minutes. That’s not the first question I really want to hear, to be honest. I’ve got no idea. It’s in May.”
