Masterclass Federer beats Kohlschreiber

Too much Roger Federer for Philipp Kohlschreiber.

The Swiss was still in Maestro mode to show once again an amazingly aggressive tennis. After winning the first 2 sets without much struggle, Roger finally dropped the serve for the first time in the tournament in the 2nd set of the 3rd set. In problems for Roger that eventually broke-back Kohlschreiber soon after to then grab the set at 4. The final result was 6-3 6-4 6-4. Match Stats.

Federer: I won the big points

Roger commented “I think because of my serve and no rhythm, I might have gotten broken as well a couple of times in sets two and three. It’s exactly those kind of matches I need to win. Especially if I drop serve, I still find a way and I don’t want to say comfortably, but I get maybe a little bit lucky at times. When I had the opportunities I was effective again. I think I won the big points better than he did today. He’s a quality player, so at the end of the day it’s a really, really good win for me.”

Next vs. Isner

Roger will play big serve (and big guy) John Isner in the 4th round. Head to head is 4-1 for Roger.
