Sock collapses and retires from US Open

When you talk about the Australian Open there is always a debate about the extreme heat.  Sometimes the same applies for the US Open.

Some players are rather harsh against the organisation about playing rough matches under the sun (Karlovic) and now the sun is taking a big toll.

What happened?

Jack Sock was leading when he was  6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 1-2 against Ruben Bemelmans to suddenly collapse. Jack received a medical time-out, but eventually he couldn’t make it.

After he recovered the American commented “Playing in the US Open is the biggest and most important moment of the season for me, so having to retire from my match today is extremely disappointing. I want to thank everyone for their support and can’t wait to be back next year. I feel better already and look forward to playing Davis Cup.”

Time to rethink (a bit) about the scheduling and the heat policy?
