At the Australian Open, news of Alexander Zverev’s impending charges for the accusations of domestic abuse against him has taken centre stage. His ex-girlfriend and child’s mother, Brenda Patea, made the claims against him last year.
The case will now be decided in May of this year in a Berlin court. From the start, Zverev has maintained his innocence in all of this. Other players have also been asked for their opinions on the matter, considering the news was only released this past week.
When asked about the issue, the majority of them chose not to talk about it. Players like Casper Ruud declined to comment on the subject when questioned about it at their post-match press conferences, citing a lack of details.
Ruud expressed his thoughts about it and said: “I haven’t had enough time to think about it and don’t have an opinion right now. But yeah, I’m not exactly sure how to react to it, so I won’t give you a good answer. Sorry.”
