Emma Raducanu expressed her intention to work with Nick Cavaday after the Australian Open to potentially put an end to the British player’s prolonged search for a long-term coach. So far in her short career, Raducanu’s coaching situation has been a sideshow.

Since then, there has been a string of temporary appointments, including the hiring and firing of Torben Beltz, Jane O’Donoghue, Iain Bates, Louis Cayer, Dmitry Tursonov, and Sebastian Sachs within a few years of each other.

Raducanu just hired Cavaday as her coach, and the two have a long history of collaboration. After reuniting at the National Tennis Centre over the Christmas break, he will be supporting her at the Australian Open.

In the past, Raducanu has been cautious when indicating whether or not she intends to work with her coach in the long run. However, the 21-year-old has hinted that Cavaday might finally be the solution to her long-term coach hunt.

Raducanu expressed her thoughts in a recent interview and said: “We’re just taking it as it goes. It’s been working well so far. I, of course, hope to continue with him because I feel very comfortable with him. I know his sister well because, like, everyone is from Bromley.”

She added: “I feel a lot lighter now than I did for a long time after the US Open. I feel like I’m not playing with a backpack of rocks. I feel pretty light and happy. Reflecting on the past, I think people are very important. I think surrounding yourself with competent and knowledgeable people is of course important, but also the type of person and their character is big-time; just making sure we get along and our intentions are really good.”
