Federer back to world no.2

Last week was a great one for Roger Federer.

The Swiss sensation has won his 7th title in Cincinnati and he has taken back the 2nd spot in the ATP rankings. Roger is not overjoyed for this achieving from a “ranking point of view” after being world no.1 for so much time, but he knows that this is very important for the seeding at the US Open. In fact, being the seed no.2 means that if he wants to win the last slam of the season he doesn’t need to necessarily beat Murray and Djokovic back to back (he has done it in Cincinnati, but in a best of 5 tournament that could be tricky).

Regarding the other players, Feliciano Lopez is back in the top20 (now 18) after reaching the quarters in Cincinnati and Dolgopolov (semis in Cincy) has climbed 27 place to be ranked no. 38.

Here the full rankings.
