Raducanu Misses Exhibition Match

The charity match between Emma Raducanu and Naomi Osaka was supposed to take place this evening in Melbourne at Rod Laver Arena; however, the match has been cancelled due to player withdrawals.

Last Monday, Raducanu returned to the playing field after eight months away due to injury. She had surgery on both wrists and underwent a minor procedure on her left ankle.

The 2021 US Open champion defeated Elena Gabriela Ruse in the opening round of the Auckland tournament but ultimately lost in three sets to Elina Svitolina. Raducanu was granted direct entry into the Australian Open main draw following five withdrawals, and she elected to sign up for two exhibition events this week.

The first was supposed to happen earlier today against Naomi Osaka, who is also making a comeback. However, Raducanu withdrew first, and Donna Vekic took her place.

The charity exhibition match was cancelled and Raducanu followed likewise after apparently waking up with some soreness after a two-hour practice session.
