After all his physical struggles, Mardy Fish is about call it a career The American has confirmed to retire after the “American Summer” to try to still perform at decent level.
Mardy had a wild card in Cincinnati to surprise everybody after trashing world no.20 Viktor Troicki 6-2 6-2 in just 68 minutes.
This was Mardy’s first win in 2 years!
Fish: I was surprised
Mardy was the first one to be stunned with his performance “I was a little surprised at my level. I hadn’t practised a ton or particularly well for a little while. I was struggling with my serve. A friend of mine came in a couple days and helped, but it was still sort of a struggle even yesterday to sort of find my serve. I was obviously real happy with the level.”

Next vs. Murray
The American will face world no.2 Andy Murray in the second round. Head to head is 4-all, but the Scott is the clear favorite for the match unless Mardy can surprise (a lot) again.
