Nishikori retires from Cincinnati

Kei Nishikori is still struggling with his body.

The Japanese no.1 had to skip Wimbledon because of a calf injury sustained in Halle, and now Kei can’t play the tournament in Cincinnati because of a hip injury suffered after playing in Montreal, but …

Nishikori: Maybe I am more tired…

According to the world no.4, his problem may be more tiredness “I think I’m more tired.

Everything was sore these couple of days. It got a little bit worse, so I couldn’t really move 100 percent. Especially after the first set, I was feeling it more and more. Definitely wasn’t good day for my body.”

… but I am struggling with my hip

Then referring to the semifinal he lost to Murray in Montreal (6-3 6-0), he commented “My hip was bothering me, so I couldn’t really play and could barely finish the match, but I had two good tournaments so I’m very happy with my tennis.”

So probably Kei will not have any problem in playing the last slam of the year… at least we hope so.
