Thanasi Kokkinakis was one of the (many) people hurt by Kyrgios’ incredible (and unforgivable) sledge in the match against Wawrinka.
Why Thanasi was upset
Thanasi is probably the most grounded youngster among the Australians and he expressed his view to his great (still?) friend Kyrgios “I let him know. I made it pretty clear that he can’t be doing that. If he’s got a problem, he’s got to say it in private. The way he went about it definitely wasn’t the right thing.”
Everything fixed with Wawrinka and Donna Vekic
Thanasi had a serene talk with Stan Wawrinka and Donna Vekic, but he still remembers how crazy things has been “I was just on my laptop watching the match [Kyrgios, Wawrinka], and then my phone just went crazy. I was like, ‘Oh, jeez’. I was watching it but I didn’t actually know it happened. I found out via one of the Fox Sports guys that sent me a tweet.
It was pretty crazy what happened. Obviously he shouldn’t have said what he said under the circumstances. But, yeah, it is what it is and we have to move past it now.”
