Smooth start of the tournament with no upsets. All seeded players came through their matches.
Djokovic lost… but it was the brother. Novak, Roger, Jo, Delpo and Thomas won their matches in straight sets.
The good news is also that Badhdatis did not destroy a couple of hundreds of rackets in his defeat at the hand of Berdych.
Murray had some troubles though. It took more than 2 hours to overcome qualifier M Berrer 6-3 4-6 6-4. The world nr.4 conceded also 12 break points (he saved 50% of them), something not normal for him. But apparently he had to cope with a nasty stomach upset.
‘At the start of the match I didn’t feel great,’ Murray said on the ATP website.
‘It was one of those strange sets. It was quite a frustrating match because I was up a break twice in the second set, and each time I think gave it straight back. ‘I could have made it a little bit easier for myself if I played a bit better.’
