Stefanos Tsitsipas has been struggling for a long time with a lower back injury that forced him to retire when he was playing in the ATP Finals back in November. Unfortunately, it’s very clear that the Greek player has not recovered yet. He decided not to play in singles at the United Cup against Chile, and he was an underwhelming presence when playing mixed doubles, clearly struggling with his injury.
Nevertheless, according to well-known Greek journalist Spiro Christopoulos, Stefanos did not rule out playing singles or mixed doubles against Canada in the upcoming tie. That will be a rather bad move from Tsitispas, who is still hoping to be fully fit for the Australian Open. Time will tell if he will play against the North American team. Stefanos Tsitsipas is well known for playing down injuries ahead of important matches.
