Stefanos Tsitsipas didn’t start the 2024 in the best possible way. The Greek sensation had to withdraw from the ATP Finals, struggling with a lower back issue. He said he was happy because his back was healing, but that seems quite far from the truth. Stefanos was not fit to compete in singles at the United Cup and he played a rather underwhelming mixed doubles with Maria Sakakri against Chile, losing the match (and therefore the tie) in 3 sets.
There was a rather worrying moment in the match tiebreak when Stefanos hit a terrible double fault while it was quite clear he was struggling with his lower back. This is the video.

Ranked no.6, Stefanos played his last match on the 14th of November 2023 when he had to retire when playing against world no.8 Holger Rune in the round robin and the scoreline was 2-1 .
At present, during this year Stefanos owns a composed 51-24 match record.
Tsitsipas is scheduled to compete next at the Australian Open (Australian Open). He will begin to play the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 14th of January.
