Petra Kvitova is expecting her first child. The two-time Wimbledon winner sent out ‘Happy New Year’ greetings on Instagram along with the news that she and her husband Jiri Vanek are expecting their first child.
The 33-year-old Kvitova married her longtime coach, Vanek, last summer. The two had started dating in 2021.
The Wimbledon champion from 2011 and 2014 had a breakthrough season in 2023 on the Hologic WTA Tour, winning titles in Miami and Berlin. Her win over Elena Rybakina in the Miami final was her biggest title in the previous five years.
She wrote on her official Instagram account: “On the first day of 2024, I wanted to wish you a happy new year and share the exciting news that Jiri and I will be welcoming a baby into our family this summer!”

Now ranked no.17, Kvitova played her last match on the 2nd of October 2023 when she was defeated by world no.15 Ludmilla Samsonova 6-4 7-5 in the 2nd round in Beijing (draw).
This year Kvitova achieved a composed 30-13 win-loss record.
