Nick Kyrgios and Stan Wawrinka had a rather “alive” tennis match in Montreal. Stan eventually retired after being 6-7 (8) 3-6 0-4 down as he was struggling with the lower back. That was not really nice as you do not want to deprive your opponent of the satisfaction of winning an important match, but Kyrgios did something even nastier.
What happened?
During their match Kyrgios trashed-talked Wawrinka saying (close to the microphones) “Kokkinakis banged your girlfriend. Sorry to tell you that mate”.
Apparently the person Nick was referring was 19-year-old Donna Vekic that was dating Stan after the end of his marriage. Vekic and Kokkinakis are rumored to have been in a short relation during the 2014 Australian Open when they played the mixed doubles together.
Nick’s sledge created another upheaval in the social media and we are sure that it will not be taken nicely by Stan and Donna Vekic (and Kokkinakis?).
Kyrgios replied that it was taken by the heat of the moment, but that is not really excusable.
Hewitt was meant to help Kyrgios… there is so much work to do… still!
