Federer asks $2 million to play in St. Petersburg

Roger Federer is arguably the greatest tennis player of all time and his aura is still very strong at 34.

When Roger takes part to an event he can raise the attention dramatically so he is the perfect guy to kick start new tournaments such as the ATP250 in Istanbul.

What happened in St. Petersburg

According to Yevgeny Kafelnikov, they asked to Federer if he was interested in playing the tournament in St. Petersburg and… “I tried to get in touch with Federer, but his team told me that in order to ensure his presence at the tournament I will have to pay a total of $2 million.

Same thing for Wawrinka”

The problem is that the participation fee is due also if Roger crashes out in the opener.

Probably Roger and Stan asked so much because the tournament is due for the 21st of September and usually they like to take a break in that period.

According to reports a “typical” market rate for the participation of top players is of $1 million, Roger got $800.000 to play in Brisbane and Nadal got €500.000 to play in Hamburg.

The tennis balls are included.

HAPPY TO PLAY…!!!
