Carlos Alcaraz and his compatriot, Roberto Bautista Agut, squared off in the ‘Copa Carlos Alcaraz’ this Thursday night at the Palacio de los Deportes de Murcia. The match lived up to the high expectations from the start, with Alcaraz winning the first set in a tiebreak and Bautista’s face looking puzzled and satisfied after just an hour of play.
Although it would end differently, the second set would be much faster than the first. Bautista-Agut would go on to win the second set 1-6, taking advantage of Alcaraz’s growing fatigue to tie the match without much difficulty.
Alcaraz’s brilliance ultimately led to the win when he defeated Bautista-Agut in the third set’s super tiebreak. In 1 hour and 53 minutes, the Spaniard finished an exhibition to remember with scores of 7-6 (1), 1-6, and 10-7.
