Bouchard crashes out in Toronto opener

Genie Bouchard loses for the 9th time in this season in the very first match. This time it was quite tough for Genie that was playing on the home soil in Toronto against Belinda Bencic.

Things stated really bad with Genie being bagelled (6-0) in the first set. Then the Canadian Beauty found her way in the second set to grab a 3-0 lead and finally win the second set 7-5. In the decider it was Belinda Bencic to have the upper hand to finally win the match 6-0 5-7 6-2.

Bouchard: I feel I am close

Genie wasn’t so depressed after this loss to comment “It’s easy to let yourself get negative when you lose a couple of matches in a row or you know your body’s not feeling great. It’s definitely been a tough road. And I feel like I’m at least not going downwards anymore. I’m trying to go on the right path.

I feel like I can be close to performing well on the court, and it’s just been a long, patient kind of battle, and I feel like I’m close to turning it around.”

Bencic will face Wozniacki in the second round. Genie will pack and she will go to Cincinnati… hoping she will win at least a match!
