After parting ways with coach Wayne Ferreira after three years, Frances Tiafoe has signed Coco Gauff’s former coach, Diego Moyano. After partnering with Tiafoe in 2020, Ferreira, a former tennis player from South Africa, took over as the main coach for the American player next year.
Together, Ferreira and Tiafoe experienced great success. Under Ferreira’s guidance, Tiafoe advanced to his first-ever Grand Slam semifinal at the US Open in 2022 and rose into the top ten of the ATP rankings.
The two have respectfully decided to end their partnership, as Tiafoe revealed on Wednesday night via an Instagram post. He expressed his gratitude to Ferreira for their time together and spoke warmly of the victories they shared as a unit.
Tiafoe exclaimed via his Instagram account: “I just wanted to say thanks to this guy. For three years, we shared together. SHEESH, we had a ton of success. But sadly, we’ve decided to part ways. Thanks for getting me to be the player I am today. I have nothing but love and respect for you. My guy, Wayne Ferriera.”
Tiafoe revealed to the public an hour after making the news that he would be collaborating with Diego Moyano, an Argentinean coach and former professional tennis player.
He wrote: “Happy to announce I’m starting my 2K24 with @diegoamoyano coaching me. It’s a full-circle moment from you helping me back in the Usta days to now privately. I’m excited for what’s to come. You one crazy ass dude. Man, you’re working the hell out of me but I can’t wait for it to all pay off. Let’s get busy next year.”
