According to Casper Ruud, Emma Raducanu can win another Grand Slam. At the US Open in 2021, Raducanu made history by becoming the first qualifier to win a major in the Open Era. Her first career title was the trophy from Flushing Meadows. But she delivered some disappointing performances in the next two seasons, despite her passion.
Raducanu is preparing for a comeback after missing play since April 2023 due to surgeries on her ankle and wrist. The British athlete will begin her 2024 campaign in Auckland at the ASB Classic. Ruud recently showed interest in Raducanu’s return.
Ruud recently asked in an interview: “Is Emma fit again? Is she going to play Australia?”
Ruud expressed his trust that the 21-year-old would repeat her feats from the US Open and capture another Grand Slam.
He said: “She’s got the potential to probably win another Slam, I think, for sure. If she’s doing a good pre-season.”
He commended Raducanu’s speed on the court and her explosive style of play and said: “[It’s] explosive. And I think, if you see her moving around on the court, she’s really good. When we watched her win the US Open, that was something that stood out. I saw she was hitting some incredible passing shots on the slide and stuff when she won, so that is what impressed me and of course, she has all the shots in the bag. I think she has potential because she can move well and hit the ball well.”
