British tennis player Jack Draper is hoping to continue his strong form into the next year after winning the Ultimate Tennis Championship Grand Final in 2023. Referred to as ‘The Power’ during the competition, the 21-year-old successfully won all five of his matches and was awarded the trophy in London. The culmination of his run was a commanding 12-14, 15-12, 13-10, and 19-7 victory over world No. 8 Holger Rune.
Draper shared his words after winning the final and said: “It’s been amazing. I’m so happy I’ve been able to play the way I can and hopefully bring that into next year. We both brought the best out of each other there. It’s not easy with this format; it’s very difficult to stay consistent and play each point as it comes.”
Although Draper had never participated in a UTS competition before this year, he was a genius at it. Renowned coach Patrick Mouratoglou devised the format, which observes players combating in tough 40-minute matches consisting of four quarters, each lasting eight minutes.
After defeating Rune, Gael Monfils, and Alexander Bublik in the group stage and thrashing Casper Ruud in the semifinals, Draper emerged victorious from the tournament.
