Stefanos Tsitsipas has a large fan base in Australia, and the Greek star admits that the overwhelming support from the audience has left him with strong feelings.
Tsitsipas’s most productive season on the tennis court is the Australian swing. It’s also his favourite time of year. First of all, the large Greek community there has given Tsitsipas a huge fan base that supports him at every turn in remarkable numbers.
Second, because the climate in Melbourne is similar to that in southwest Attica, where he was raised, Tsitsipas called the Australian Open his home Slam.
He expressed his thoughts in a recent interview and said, “Every single Aussie swing that there has been so far, I’ve had a lot of fun playing those. Traveling around Australia and just seeing Greeks show up in courts everywhere feels amazing. This year in Sydney, I’ve had probably the best Greek support that I have ever had in a tournament competition in my life.”
He added: “I’ve had an amazing atmosphere built up during my match with Italy and it left me with some memorable, intense memories that live rent-free inside my head. I have enjoyed every single minute of it on court.”

Currently the world no. 6, Stefanos played his last match on the 14th of November, when he had to retire when playing against world no. 8 Holger Rune in the round robin and the scoreline was 2-1 .
This season, Tsitsipas has managed to achieve a compiled 51-24 win-loss record. Stefanos has won one title in Los Cabos. The Greek reached the final at the Australian Open and in Barcelona.
