The ATP Tour has given Carlos Alcaraz the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award for the 2023 campaign. Players who acknowledge that they played tennis fairly all year long and with integrity on the court are eligible to receive this award. The players nominated for this award were Jannik Sinner, Hubert Hurkacz, Grigor Dimitrov, and Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard overcame all three of them to take home the award.

The other tennis players cast their votes for this award. Alcaraz’s colleagues consequently concluded that he deserved the recognition. While he is hardly aggressive on the court and rarely gets into disputes, Alcaraz is a very clean player who never turns to unfair tactics to win games. So, granting him the award was the appropriate decision.

The Spaniard expressed his happiness at receiving the honor. He says what makes it even more special is that his fellow tennis players picked him to win.

Alcaraz expressed his thoughts after winning this award and said: “I’m so happy to win the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award. I’m especially happy that it’s an award chosen by my colleagues on the circuit. It means a lot to me, so thank you all very much.”
