World No. 1 tennis player, Novak Djokovic, has swiftly dismissed circulating rumors suggesting his involvement in negotiations to take over the Manolo Santana Racquets Club in Marbella, Spain. The reports, which surfaced on December 13, indicated Djokovic’s alleged interest in acquiring the club following the passing of Spanish tennis legend Manolo Santana.
The four-time Grand Slam champion Santana passed away at 83 years old on December 11, 2021, leaving behind assets yet to be distributed or managed. Speculations hinted at Djokovic’s potential collaboration with Claudia Santana, Manolo Santana’s wife, and their son, Christian, to salvage the club, reportedly facing financial challenges.
However, Djokovic refuted these claims outright, addressing the issue via a post on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). In his brief statement, Djokovic straightforwardly dismissed the reports as “Fake news…”

Djokovic’s denial contradicted recent reports from Serbia, stating that he had relinquished control of his own tennis academy, the ‘Novak Tennis Centre,’ located in Belgrade. Allegedly, he purportedly handed over the academy’s control to the city on June 1 earlier this year after running it successfully for 15 years.
The Manolo Santana Racquets Club, associated with the legacy of the late tennis champion, has drawn attention amid uncertainties surrounding its future management. However, Djokovic’s unequivocal denial of any involvement quashes speculations about his potential role in overseeing the club’s operations, leaving the facility’s fate uncertain as the Santana family navigates this challenging period following Manolo Santana’s demise.
