Christopher Eubanks shed a few tears after Coco Gauff’s US Open victory because he was so happy for her.

Gauff and Eubanks have a long history together as fellow tennis players from the same nation and area. Before this year, Eubanks seemed destined for a career as an analyst for the Tennis Channel, so he has experience in the majority of US players.

He was able to pursue his tennis dream this year thanks to an amazing breakthrough year, which he largely attributed to Gauff. He talked about how she helped him practice and encouraged him to continue playing tennis by giving him advice and encouragement.

This year, he demonstrated why she thought he had what it took. The US Open victory this year by Gauff further validated Eubanks’ belief that she was capable of winning a Grand Slam.

Eubanks expressed his feelings in an interview and said: “I cried a little bit. Watching her win wasn’t the real emotional part, it was watching her hug her dad at the end that got me and you could see.”

He added: “I know Cory and Coco so well, I know what, you know I have an idea of what they’ve kinda been through to get to that point so to see them have that embrace and I’m sitting in front of the TV and I can’t believe it and when she runs into his arms and they hug each other, I said oh man and it started coming out.”
