Following her successes this summer on the hard courts of North America, Coco Gauff is getting ready for another exciting season. The young American sensation won the first Slam of her early career at the US Open, much to the delight of the Flushing Meadows crowd.
Coco’s accomplishments this year earned her a spot on People’s list of the 25 most interesting people of the year. After winning her first Slam and finishing the season at her best ranking, the 19-year-old American became the athlete with the highest earnings, considering sponsorships and brands, with $22.7 million.
Gauff stated in a few humorous Instagram stories that she doesn’t think of herself as fascinating because she just enjoys knitting, crocheting, watching anime, and playing Fortnite.
Gauff wrote: “Lol, good to know People think I’m intriguing. I’m not. I like to crochet, watch anime, and play Fortnite all day when I am not practicing or working.”
Despite this, Gauff found it amusing that the magazine had included her in the list of people she found truly interesting.
She added: “But I appreciate the shoutout. It’s pretty cool being on this list among intriguing people.”
