Finally Sloane Stephens reaches her first WTA final in Washington..
The young American was expected to do great things after an incredible run at the 2013 Australian Open when she defeated her childhood hero Serena Williams, but eventually Sloane didn’t achieve much after that.
Now Sloane finally reaches her first final in Washington after beating Sam Stosur 7-6 (4) 6-0 in the semis.
Stephens: I have been waiting for long time
Sloane commented “I’ve been waiting a long time for this. To do it here in Washington is really something special.
I played within myself. I hung in there and stuck in the game no matter what. This is my second home. I love the fans here and really appreciate everyone coming out and supporting me.”
The final vs. Pavlyuchenkova
Sloane will play Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the final. This will be the first encounter between these two.
