Wozniacki Wins A Match Point

Six Australian players have been given main-draw wildcards for the Australian Open 2024, along with former world No. 1 and AO 2018 champion Caroline Wozniacki.

The Australian Open in 2024 will mark the beginning of Caroline Wozniacki’s comeback, as the former world number one was given a main-draw wildcard. Wozniacki, the 2018 Melbourne Park champion, was one of seven players selected on Tuesday to receive wildcards into the first Grand Slam competition of the year.

The other six players are talented Australians Adam Walton, Marc Polmans, Taylah Preston, James Duckworth, Kimberly Birrell, and Olivia Gadecki; they are all on the rise following their outstanding 2023 performances.

Wozniacki expressed her thoughts and said: “I have so many wonderful memories of Melbourne, and of course winning the Australian Open is an all-time career highlight. Melbourne is one of my favorite cities in the world, and I can’t wait to share it with my family and my kids. It’s a tournament I feel extremely comfortable at. I love the balls, I love the court, and I love the fans.”

She added: “And I hope that I get a nice welcome back when I see everyone there – and I’m sure I will; it is a special place. I’m truly grateful to everyone for the wildcard and having the opportunity to compete again at the AO in January.”
