In the scheduled exhibition match between the two tennis players, Tommy Paul lost to Carlos Alcaraz this Thursday morning at Mexico City’s Monumental Plaza de Toros. The Spanish player won 7-6, 6-3, and it was considered an epic victory.
Since the Spaniard made his debut at the Abierto Mexicano Acapulco, he was already familiar with what it was like to play in Mexico. He hasn’t performed in Mexico City before, but he promises it’s been an incredible experience.
Alcaraz expressed his thoughts and said: “I hope people have enjoyed it. It has been a great challenge, and it has not been easy to win. We played a great match, and that’s what tennis is all about: offering a good show. It was a unique moment, and I felt very special being here. The people here are very special. I have recorded this moment to always have it in my memory.”
Before the match between Alcaraz and Paul, there was an exhibition match between Maria Sakkari and Caroline Wozniacki. The Greek player won 6-3, 6-4. Wozniacki returned to professional tennis this year after becoming a mother.
