Genie Bouchard hired Sam Sumyk back in February to try to elevate her game. Sam was Azarenka’s coach and the mastermind of Vika’s incredible results in the previous years. It seemed as this was the right move for the Canadian, but eventually that turned as a sheer disaster.
Genie had a horrible 4/11 win loss record after partnering with Sumyk (not counting the terrible performance at the Fed Cup) and eventually the only solution was to part way with him (why not sticking to Saviano?).
Genie has headed to Toronto for the Rogers Cup without a coach… probably the best thing to do right now.
