From December 31 to January 7, the Brisbane tournament will feature Andy Murray, Victoria Azarenka, the two-time Australian Open champion, world No. 10 Holger Rune, and Naomi Osaka.
After a 15-month break, former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka will make her WTA Tour comeback at the Brisbane International in January. Osaka gave birth to her daughter Shai in July of this year and participated in her last WTA match at the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo in September 2022.
The women’s WTA 500 tournament, which now has 48 main-draw players, will also feature Azarenka. Azarenka has an impressive 15-2 win-loss record at the Brisbane International, having won the title in both 2009 and 2016. Rune, a rising star on the men’s tour, will be playing in Brisbane for the first time.
Osaka revealed it in an interview and said: “I am really excited about getting back out on court and competing. I always love starting my season in Brisbane and can’t wait to return. The Brisbane International is such a great tournament and will set me up for a brilliant comeback this summer.”
Murray also expressed his thoughts and said: “It’s great to see the Brisbane International back and I am really looking forward to returning to Queensland this summer. I have great memories of winning the title in 2012 and 2013 and I would love to lift the trophy again for a third time in Brisbane.”
The Queensland Tennis Centre will host the combined WTA 500 and ATP 250 tournament from December 31 to January 7, with a record $3.1 million in prize money up for grabs.
Brisbane International tournament director Cam Pearson said: “We are really excited to welcome Naomi Osaka, Andy Murray, Victoria Azarenka, Holger Rune, and Grigor Dimitrov to Brisbane in 2024, and we know the atmosphere of watching these top players will be thrilling this summer.”

Ranked world no.42, Andy played his last match on the 30th of October when he was defeated by world no.12 Alex De Minaur 7-6(5) 4-6 7-5 in the 1st round in Paris (draw).
This year Andy has a composed 31-18 record. Andy clinched 3 titles in 2023 in the Aix En Provence Challenger, the Surbiton Challenger and the Nottingham Challenger. Murray was the runner-up in Doha.
Holger Rune in 2023
Now ranked no.8, the Dane played his last match on the 16th of November when he capitulated to world no.4 Jannik Sinner 6-2 5-7 6-4 in the round robin in the Nitto ATP Finals (draw).
At present, during this year Holger has managed to achieve an overall 44-24 record. This year, the Dane won 1 title in Munich. Rune reached the final in Monte-Carlo and Rome.

At the moment ranked no.661, Osaka played her last match on the 20th of September 2022 when she had to retire when playing against world no.207 Daria Gavrilova in the 1st round and the scoreline was 1-0 .
